monochromatic blue

Blouse, Necklace and Bracelet: H&M/ Skirt: ASOS/ Handbag: Le Chateau/ Ring: Laura's/ Shoes: (?)

When I first set my eyes on this ASOS skirt, the pattern reminded me of a regal stroll down the streets of London (aka I was in love with it). However, I was also unsure how I felt about midi skirts, and if being short meant they weren't right for me. But since I am a firm believer anyone can wear any trend, if done properly, I decided to go for it. And boy am I glad I did! I've already worn it in a post here.

Midi Style Tip:

If you're on the shorter side (like myself), always wear midi's with heels. This will ensure it doesn't make you look like a stump (yeah, I went there).

florals with FWF

Hello Sophisticates!

The lovely Jackie and I from food.wine.fashion and I are collaborating again this month to bring you another Spring trend - floral! I must say it is one of my favourite trends of the seasons, because I just love the feminine and classy vibe florals can give when done appropriately.

Untitled #14

Floral Style Tips:

ü  WHEN wearing floral pants, pair it with a solid colored top. This will ensure the outfit isn’t too busy or overwhelming. If you like pattern mixing, a subtle stripe top will do the trick.
ü  A FLORAL dress is a perfect way to celebrate the summer months. Turn a floral dress from a day to    night look but adding a statement necklace, bold lipstick, and higher heels.
ü  NOT into the whole floral outfit trend? Adding a pair of floral heels can add a touch of glamour and fun to any outfit!

maxi-d out

Maxi Dress, Blazer, Necklace, and Bracelet: H&M/ Purse: Le Chateau/ Ring: Laura's/ Watch: Michael Kors/ Wedges and Earrings: (?)

Maxi dresses are so effortlessly chic and comfortable. On summer days where there is a little breeze in the air, they are the perfect complement to those cool summer days! Even suitable for the office {assuming business casual attire}, maxi dresses look seriously classy on their own. Want more pizzaz? Add a statement necklace {aka my solution to everything}.

I am also happy to announce that I am back to blogging! My week of absence was seriously too long for my liking, and am looking forward to seeing all my blogging friends once again. And for all you lovely Canadians - I hope you enjoyed the Victoria Day long weekend :)

PS linking up with the gorgeous Jessi and Style Sessions!

PPS I'm honoured that my outfit is featured as one of the "the weeks best looks" over at elegance & mommyhood! Thank you!

springtime in paris

springtime in paris

During this time of year, when the trees are blooming flowers and the tulips are all vibrant colours of the rainbow, I often dream of Paris. I envision myself sophisticatedly strolling the streets or reading Jane Austen novels while eating a croissant in a bakery. This is definitely what I would wear. And Paris - I am definitely calling you home one day.

Also, I sincerely apologize for my absence this week. I wanted to take the personal time to adjust to my new schedule since I just started my internship. But don't worry, I will be back in full force starting this weekend. And good things are being planned my friends! I also needed to take the time to plan the coming months on this blog. I am re-vamping Sophisticated In Style to offer more interesting and valuable posts to you, my lovely and fashionably sophisticated readers. This will all begin with my new design layout - which I hope to reveal very soon!

blue & cream

Dress, Scarf and Belt Bracelet: H&M/ Purse: Le Chateau/ Bracelets: Links of London and Thomas Sabo/ Ring: Laura's/ Watch: Michael Kors/ Shoes: States (?)/ Sunnies: (?)

Happy Thursday Sophisticates!

Lately I've been really adoring the colour pair of cream/white and blue. It has a regal feel to it and always makes me feel classy when I wear it (such as my last post here). This outfit is no exception. I love simple, yet chic dresses like the one above. Simply adding a statement necklace, or even a scarf in my case, can add a nice touch of glamour to any simple dress.

On an unrelated note, today I just started my {dream} internship! I am so excited to embark on this next journey. Although I am not completely done my MBA (I will be finished at the end of the summer when I complete a MRP or business plan, and internship) I am so thrilled to be working where I am. It is a relatively new start-up company named Mejuri. They are an online jewelry store that manufactures based on crowdsourcing. Designers submit, and voters vote. The winning designs are then manufactured! It is such a neat and unique concept, and I plan to do another post about the company soon. I highly recommend you check it out here! And designers - such a great opportunity to get exposure!

*Please note this post is all of my own. I genuinely believe in this company and it fits with my personal style, interest and taste.
